What Shoppers Say About Danner
Danner is rated 2.1 out of 5 by 23 shoppers, with a majority of reviews expressing serious dissatisfaction. The most common complaints center on slow order processing and shipping delays (taking two weeks or longer to arrive), poor quality control with boots arriving with defects like dents and sole fit issues, problematic returns and refund processes (particularly for UK customers facing months-long delays), and unexpected additional costs such as high import duties. Several shoppers also report dissatisfaction with Danner's recrafting service, citing instances where boots were damaged during the rework process and became irreparable after multiple refurbishment attempts.
Few reviewers highlight positive experiences. Those giving higher ratings appear to appreciate Danner's reputation for quality and its Pacific Northwest heritage, though this goodwill is quickly eroded when orders arrive late, damaged, or with surprise fees. Customer support responsiveness is frequently questioned, with reports of support dismissing legitimate quality concerns about older stock and failing to address shipping delays promptly. Overall, shoppers advise carefully considering whether the premium price point justifies the operational and quality issues currently documented in reviews.

Sorted by: Most recentWe never got the boots even though we paid 30 dollars for faster shipping. They forgot to put the shoes inside the box and just sent us an empty box. We won't have them before we have to leave. Support said at 1pm they couldn't get them out that same day.
Fantastic boots. I've never owned anything better. Five years of daily wear and they're still holding strong.
This is tough for me to write since I've worn Danner boots for most of my eighty years and always had great luck. Picked up a Bull Run Chelsea Wedge slip on pair last November for 225 dollars. They seemed fine after the normal break in period until about a week later when my toes started really hurting. Pain got worse and worse. I stuck my hand in to see what was going on and found hard leather ridges sticking up inside the boot at the toe. I should've checked that at the store. Sent photos to Danner and they rejected my warranty claim because I'd added rubber heel taps for pronation support, which has nothing to do with the toe issue. After sixty years, I'm done with this brand.
Got their high end military police boot with the extra support. Technically there's no heel but it doesn't look flat, it's just unbelievably well made. Best boot or shoe I've ever owned. Cost me 260 dollars and I actually bought two pairs because they're so good. Wear them constantly. Don't really care about the look since they're black anyway. These things are fantastic. They feel like premium sneakers but way more built to last and way more support.
This is about the Danner Striker 45 GTX boots. I made the mistake of buying not one but two pairs. I had an old hiking boot I adored and it's still going strong. This newer tactical style caught my eye so I picked up a used pair and the left sole immediately fell apart into plastic pieces. I figured I'd try again and asked the seller about the soles and he said everything looked fine. When I got them they seemed okay. Well today I walked half a mile to get a haircut and as I walked in the shop the left sole was flapping off. So disappointed. Danner support basically told me it's not made in America, it's from China, and it's discontinued anyway. They offered a 40 percent off code for a new purchase on their site. That's it. Not buying from them again.
Got the Trail Guard platform non metallic toe boots for work and they're AWESOME. Love how Danner boots feel and how comfortable they are. I've picked up two other pairs from them for hunting trips and they're the most comfortable and driest boots I've ever had. Really recommend these. They're light, durable, and just great all around.
Got nothing but broken promises and no boots. I ordered because they guaranteed 2 day shipping, but three days passed and they hadn't even handed the package off to the carrier yet. Called to cancel right away and they assured me they'd process the refund. That was a lie. They shipped it out the very next day instead. Still waiting for it to show up. At this point it doesn't matter anymore since I've already bought boots elsewhere. I won't be shopping at Danner again. They don't respond to emails and their phone support is useless. Those reps will tell you anything just to end the call, but nothing they say actually happens.
Really let down by this purchase. They're made in Vietnam now? The insole feels flatter than what you get with eight dollar slippers from a discount store. I used to own Danners that were manufactured in America and those lasted forever. Wore them with confidence for years. This new pair is a completely different story and not in a good way.
Got a pair of hiking boots during the supply chain crisis. Danner stayed in touch whenever there were delays on the manufacturer's side. When the boots finally got here, they charged me the original price even though they had to place a new order at a higher cost. Solid boot quality and my first pair lasted eight years. Definitely recommend them. They cost a little more than other brands but the craftsmanship and comfort are worth it. Would recommend again.
Grabbed a pair of hiking boots when the supply chain was crazy. Danner kept me in the loop every time something was delayed on the manufacturer's end. When they finally arrived, the company honored the original price from before they had to order a new batch. Great quality boot and I actually wore through my previous pair after eight years. Happy to recommend them. Yes their boots cost a bit more than competitors, but the build quality and comfort make it worth it. Definitely recommend.
