What Shoppers Say About Dressbarn
Dressbarn has received overwhelmingly negative feedback from shoppers, with 25 reviews averaging 1.0 out of 5. The most consistent complaints center on a broken return and exchange process, with customers reporting that returns take months to process, refunds are issued only as store credit rather than actual refunds, and return shipping costs fall on the customer. Additional issues include orders that never arrive or arrive incomplete, unresponsive or nonexistent customer service, lack of order confirmation emails and tracking numbers, and product descriptions that do not match items received.
Shoppers express strong frustration with the overall reliability of the company, noting the absence of customer reviews on the website as a warning sign. Several reviewers describe the experience as a scam and recommend avoiding the site entirely. The consensus among recent reviews is that customers should only order from Dressbarn if they are absolutely certain they will keep every item purchased, given the significant difficulty in obtaining returns or refunds.
Customer Reviews (25)
Sorted by: Most recentThe online shopping experience was horrible. I ordered a blouse based on the website description and photo, but what arrived was completely different from what was shown. When a company doesn't even have a customer review section on their site, it's a huge red flag for being shady and unreliable.
I'd give them less than one star if I could. Skip this company completely unless you don't care about being able to exchange items. Their customer service bot is useless and their actual customer service team basically doesn't exist. When I asked about exchanging a pair of jeans for a different size, the bot said I'd get return instructions in an email. I've contacted them four times now and nothing. The last response said my 30 day window had closed, even though I made my first request the day my order arrived. I shopped at their physical stores from day one until they closed, and I really liked them. But this website is absolutely awful and I'm done with it. Update: Finally got an answer about an order from June when I reached out in September and got full credit. But I still can't exchange items and won't be ordering again.
I'd rate them zero stars if that option existed. Like everyone else is saying, trying to return things is basically impossible. I never got a confirmation email when I ordered and there was no tracking number provided. When the items arrived after the event I needed them for, I didn't even open them and immediately asked to start a return. They gave me store credit for $317 but didn't send a return address, so I'm confused about what I'm supposed to do with these items. I kept asking for both a return address and an actual refund instead of credit, but got no response. This has been the worst return experience and customer service I've ever encountered.
Seriously, don't order anything from Dressbarn unless you're 100 percent sure you'll keep it. Their return process is a nightmare. They won't give you an actual refund, just store credit, and you still have to pay for return shipping out of pocket. It took over two months to process my first return. I initiated it on January 5th and sent my request for a shipping label on January 13th. I mailed the item back on January 17th, asked for a status update on February 20th and got told it would be done the following week, then emailed again on March 13th and 14th before finally getting my credit almost 9 and a half weeks later. You'd think that experience would be enough for me, but I tried ordering again using the credit. When that purchase didn't fit, I had to repeat the whole painful process. On April 9th I started another return, and after sending two more emails and waiting five weeks, I got my store credit again, except this time I was also out the shipping cost. Eventually I just ordered cheap earrings to use up my remaining credit balance so it wouldn't all go to waste. This system is broken and frustrating.
I placed an order in October 2022 for $157.82 worth of clothes and never received anything. When I contacted customer service, they only gave me credit for $131.02. Despite sending multiple follow-up emails asking about the missing amount, nothing happened. Even worse, the gift card they sent isn't working. It's been eight months now and I still don't have my refund. I'm incredibly frustrated and feel totally scammed. The fact that they're still operating and selling merchandise while ripping customers off like this is wrong. Their phone line doesn't take calls, but they're perfectly happy continuing to operate. This is a warning to everyone: Dressbarn is fraudulent.
This place is a total scam. They'll charge your card for items you never actually receive. Then when you try to get your money back, they refuse to process a refund. The only way their customer service actually responds to you is when you file a fraud dispute with your bank. If you absolutely must order from here, use a credit card so you have some protection and can file a chargeback. I really hope they go under for good this time.
Don't buy anything from them. I sent back a top in early January and I still haven't gotten a credit or refund. All I keep getting is excuses about being swamped from holiday shopping, and it's already March. I won't be ordering from them again.
I'm seeing the same complaints from other people and now I've got my own. I tried returning a couple pairs of pants and they rejected them claiming they came back covered in pet hair. That's completely false. I tried them on at home, didn't like the fit, and immediately put them back in the original bag. Their response makes no sense. I used to shop at their actual stores and really liked them, but I will never order online from them again.
Do not order from this company. They take your money and leave you with no way to get it back. Your merchandise never shows up and they offer no customer support to help. There's no phone number to call and they won't answer emails or messages. Something needs to be done about a company that collects payment and never delivers the products. I wish I could dispute it with my bank, but I used gift cards so I'm stuck.
I ordered two pairs of pants that didn't fit right. I returned them, even though I had to cover the shipping cost myself. Three months have gone by with no refund. They said it would be converted to store credit, which I don't even want. But I haven't received that either. They're now claiming they sent it to my email address and asking me to verify my email, which is ridiculous because they've been emailing me the entire time using that exact same address. They got their product back, and I'm still stuck without my money. I've been going back and forth with them for months trying to get this resolved. This company is fraudulent and what they're doing is criminal. They need to be held accountable.
