Filson Reviews
What Shoppers Say About Filson
Filson is receiving overwhelmingly negative feedback, with shoppers consistently reporting serious customer service failures. The most common complaints include unresponsive support teams (slow or no response to emails and calls), refusal to cover shipping costs when the company makes errors, incorrect order fulfillment, shipping delays that extend weeks beyond expected timelines, and disputes over warranty claims and tax charges. Shoppers express particular disappointment because many are long-time customers who associate Filson with quality and reliability, and feel the company has abandoned these standards.
A small minority of reviewers rate the store positively, though their feedback is not detailed in available excerpts. Given the 23 reviews tracked, the 1.5 rating reflects widespread dissatisfaction with the ordering and support experience rather than the quality of products themselves.

Sorted by: Most recentOrdered two beautiful lined wool packer coats at a thousand dollars each in size triple extra large. They ended up being too big for me since I always size up to be safe. I shipped them back right away using the return label they provided. Filson got them on the twelfth and put them back on their site where they both sold within a day. I'm still trying to get my two thousand dollar refund. I've called customer service repeatedly but keep getting dropped because they claim the lines are full. I think they actually won't answer on purpose because customers are upset and they don't want to deal with it.
I've owned a Filson Ballistic Duffle bag for a year and a half and it's honestly fantastic. But then two of the straps broke, which is shocking for a three hundred pound bag. I filled out their repair form and waited four weeks just for them to look at it and ask for photos. They still haven't gotten to that. Plus they're closed until mid-January. It's really poor customer service. No matter how good their products are, I won't buy from them again based on how they handle problems. They're clearly not following consumer protection rules and seem to just stall until customers give up. Probably never going to fix it.
Skip Filson completely. I bought a jacket at full price and it didn't fit, so I wanted to return it. I looked through my package for return instructions but found nothing, so I checked their website. It said to use the return slip from the package. Except there wasn't one. I emailed asking for one and got an automated response saying they'd get back to me in two to three business days. A week went by with no answer. I called and got stuck in a loop of recorded messages about how much they value my call, then it hung up. I called back a few more times and got the same thing. I sent another email. Still nothing. Called the next day and finally reached someone after waiting almost an hour. I explained everything. She said she'd email me a return slip in two to three business days. I pointed out I'd already been trying for over ten days with zero results from Filson. She basically said sorry, that's all I can do. When I asked how I'm supposed to trust that promise after three failures, she said it's my only option. Yeah, Filson really dropped the ball here.
What a dishonest operation. Filson provides some of the worst customer service around. Emails go unanswered, chat isn't available, and their phone system has this fake recording claiming they can't accept calls because they're closed. Total nonsense.
Ordering from Filson online or over the phone is a complete nightmare. I tried placing several Christmas gift orders and my credit card kept getting rejected. Turns out they use some third party service called Bolt to handle payments, and the whole thing just falls apart and cancels your order. It's the worst experience I've ever had trying to buy something online. Just go somewhere else, trust me. Their ordering process is so broken that I can't recommend them to anyone. Don't be fooled by their website. Shop with a different company.
The shirt turned out to be made in an Asian factory. When it arrived in Canada I got hit with 70 dollars in duties and customs charges. I reached out to customer service upset about paying all these fees and asked why they're not making things in America like they claim in their ads. Customer service basically ignored what I was saying and didn't address any of my concerns.
Really disappointed. The vest I ordered last week still hasn't shipped. I'm getting tired of hearing excuses about the delay.
Their returns policy is completely unreasonable. I had to mail back two items I bought online and they charged me 30 pounds for it. I'm pretty sure that's the most expensive return fee any store has ever charged me.
The Dryden bag in Whiskey color is way darker than what shows in the pictures. It's basically like two completely different bags. I still like it okay, but they really didn't set the right expectations. The photos must have been taken with crazy bright lighting that doesn't reflect real life. Pretty misleading honestly. UPDATE: Their customer service actually stepped up and fixed it. They changed the color to the correct one and made things right. That bumps my rating back up. Seriously impressed with how fast they handled it. The bag itself has held up great so far and everything's working well. Four stars.
I'm done shopping at Filson too. On top of my bad experience, I tried posting a product review on their website but they rejected it saying I didn't purchase the item, even though I can show pictures proving I did. I bought their Oil Finish Double Tin Tan work pants and the size guide on their site is completely wrong. These aren't going to fit over layers the way they claim based on what the chart says. The worst part? They made me pay to ship the pants back to them, and when I got them back they said the sizing was correct. When I compare them to my other pants the waist is off by at least an inch. It's ironic that Filson markets their stuff as rugged and made for Alaska, but when an actual Alaskan customer has problems they treat you poorly. Companies like Crutchfield show how real customer service works. Maybe I would've loved these pants if I could actually wear them, but I won't be buying from Filson again and there are way better outdoor clothing options out there.
