What Shoppers Say About Hiya
Hiya is rated 1.3 out of 5 by 12 shoppers, with the vast majority expressing serious dissatisfaction. Reviewers report that the service fails at its core function of blocking spam calls, with many noting that built-in phone filtering works better. The most damaging complaints involve Hiya's spam classification system itself: legitimate businesses and charities report being flagged as spam or fraud, which blocks their outgoing calls and damages their reputation, while Hiya allegedly offers expensive solutions to problems it created. Customers also cite non-responsive customer service, with some reporting ten to twelve unanswered emails and no phone support available.
A small fraction of reviewers (8 percent) appear satisfied, but the overwhelming consensus is that Hiya represents poor value. Complaints span multiple countries, including the US, Australia, and New Zealand, suggesting the issue is systemic rather than isolated. Users consistently recommend relying on native phone filtering features instead, and several characterize the company's practices as predatory or fraudulent, particularly the model of blocking numbers then selling remediation services at premium rates.

Sorted by: Most recentTheir customer service is terrible. I sent ten emails and got nothing but robot responses saying they'd reply within two days. I paid for their call branding feature upfront and it was approved and running. After four days of testing with a customer, the branded name never showed up on the call screen. No way to reach anyone by phone either, and they're supposedly in the Seattle area. Just horrible.
Hiya is blocking all of our calls as spam and suspected fraud. We're a legitimate charity trying to do good work and this company is sabotaging us. The only solution they offer costs tens of thousands monthly. That's fraud, extortion, and a scam. This company shouldn't be allowed to operate, especially not in Australia.
This company deserves a class action lawsuit. Our legitimate Australian business has had our phone numbers labeled as Suspected Spam and Potential Fraud by this company. It's destroying our ability to reach customers. Hiya is the real scammer here, they create the problem then sell you the solution. I met with them and they wanted to charge us to remove the spam tag they put on us themselves. They claim that just three complaints flags a number as spam, which is ridiculous. They're damaging tons of businesses this way.
I only remember this app exists when it stops working. I've emailed them over twelve times with zero response. Seriously disappointed in Hiya! Did they just abandon this app? Why am I still paying monthly for something that's broken?
Complete waste of money! This app did nothing to block spam calls coming to my iPhone. I went through the settings multiple times and reviewed every option available. Would give it zero stars if I could! You'd honestly be better off just using your phone's native call filtering. The built-in feature routes unknown numbers straight to voicemail so your phone doesn't even ring, which actually works way better than this.
I run a real estate business in New Zealand. Hiya marked my number as spam so when I contact clients they think I'm spam calling them. How does some American company have the power to wreck my business reputation internationally?
This needs government oversight. Hiya flagged my personal cell number as spam, which prevented me from calling or texting my friends. Calls were getting rejected as spam automatically. If someone reports your number as spam on this platform, you're basically locked out of using your phone. Really unethical stuff.
My phone number keeps getting tagged with random business names without my permission. When I call people, they see the wrong company attached to my number, which has hurt my professional standing. I've asked multiple times to have my number removed for good. They tell me they'll fix it, and it seems okay for a bit. Then months pass and suddenly my number's connected to a different business. This has occurred four times now! The worst part is they don't actually care. They've promised multiple times that my number would be permanently delisted, yet they keep associating it with random companies. This is a serious invasion of privacy and completely unacceptable. I'd caution anyone against using Hiya. If they can't properly handle phone numbers, what does that say about their other features? Legal action is coming if this doesn't stop for real.
Total rip-off! They claim your business phone numbers are labeled as spam, sell that list to carriers, and then try to make you pay them to remove those labels. That's extortion. Our company is giving them until the end of the year to fix this before we bring in lawyers. Legal fees will cost them way more than they'd make from trying this scam on us.
