A minority of reviewers appear satisfied with the service, but they represent a small fraction of feedback. Sorted by: Most recentI ordered two items that were marked as sale price but got billed at regular price instead. I called support and they could see the sale price in their system but said they couldn't credit me the difference. Not happy about it. As someone on a fixed income, every dollar matters, and this wasn't a mistake on my end, it was theirs. I do all my grocery shopping with them and you'd think they'd care about keeping customers satisfied, but clearly they don't.
Missing items, wrong items showed up, damaged goods. The replacement suggestions didn't even match what I originally ordered. Delivery was also late.
If there was a way to give negative stars, this American company would deserve them. They're charging Canadians way too much. Products cost two to four dollars more than normal, and some items are nearly eight dollars higher than ordering straight from the store. Don't use them. They already mark up groceries, charge one hundred dollars yearly for membership, and then add even more on top. When I compared my receipt to the same items from my local grocer, Instacart cost me an extra seventy-five dollars. These people are ripping us off. It's cheaper to pay the nine dollar delivery fee through your store directly. This shouldn't be allowed. I've reported them to consumer protection agencies. Spread the word that you're better off going local. Even other delivery apps are less expensive. Canada needs to shut this down.
I was charged two times for a single order but on different days. They denied it and claimed either I wasn't charged twice or they don't see a second charge, despite me showing support screenshots of both charges on my bank statement. Then they said PayPal was responsible. My bank confirmed it was a duplicate charge from them. They refuse to refund or even admit fault. Fortunately my bank sided with me and I'm filing a fraud complaint against them. I'm never going back and I'm warning everyone not to use them. They rip you off and expect you to eat the extra charge.
I got charged twice for the same order but on different dates. When I reached out to support, they kept saying either I wasn't charged twice or they couldn't see a second charge, even after I showed them screenshots from my bank. Then they blamed it on PayPal. My bank confirmed it was definitely a double charge. They won't refund me or even acknowledge the mistake. My bank had to step in and I'm filing a fraud complaint. I'm done with them and telling everyone else to avoid them too. They overcharge you and leave you stuck paying for their errors.
I wish I could give negative stars. Here's what makes them so bad: First, I've almost never received my order within the promised time window. Usually it's two to six hours late, which means I have to cancel. Second, twice the app said my order was arriving and it never showed up. Did the driver keep my groceries? I have no idea. Third, their customer service is absolutely awful. Ask them something they don't want to answer like what happens if your delivery is two hours late, and they just disconnect the call. Fourth, when you report an order problem, they say they can cancel it but can't guarantee anything will arrive on time or even close to when promised. You hear a lot of we'll call us back. I keep reminding myself why I never want to deal with them again.
I've hardly ever had problems with Instacart, and when something minor does go wrong, they take care of it right away and treat me respectfully. Sure, there are tons of negative reviews floating around, but my experience has been problem-free overall, which is why I'm comfortable giving them five stars.
I haven't run into many issues with Instacart, and on the rare occasions something hasn't gone smoothly, they've always fixed it quickly and professionally. Yeah, there are plenty of negative reviews out there, but my personal experience has been solid, so I'm giving them five stars.
Two items were missing from my order of twenty-four. I filed a claim but they rejected it. Then I got an email saying I could appeal and another email from a rep asking what was missing, even though I'd already told them. I replied twice but never heard back after a week. Bottom line, if items don't show up, you're out of luck. The only thing you can do is leave the shopper a bad rating.
