What Shoppers Say About Jostens
Jostens receives overwhelmingly negative feedback from shoppers, with 23 reviews averaging 1.3 out of 5. The dominant complaints center on poor customer service, inability to cancel or modify orders once placed, delayed shipments that miss important deadlines (graduations, specific dates), and technical problems with their website. Shoppers report receiving wrong items, difficulty obtaining refunds, and a general sense that the company ignores customer requests and its own stated policies. A small minority of reviewers gave positive ratings, though specific praise is limited in the available feedback.
The few positive reviews appear to be outliers in a pattern of dissatisfaction. Shoppers consistently recommend alternatives such as Herff Jones, Etsy, and Amazon for class rings, yearbooks, and graduation products. Common frustrations include frozen web browsers during the ordering process, confusing navigation, lack of user-friendly design elements (such as word count indicators), and unresponsive or inflexible customer service representatives who refuse to honor cancellation requests or provide timely refunds.

Sorted by: Most recentJostens lost my son's Letterman's Jacket that cost over $500. I can't get the local sales rep to explain what happened to it. She had the jacket in her custody. She called on April 11th to say it was ready. We planned to pick it up and I paid the remaining balance over the phone. I never even got to see the jacket. She said it needed to go to the school for some reason and now it's disappeared. She won't return calls and nobody at school knows anything about it. This has completely ruined my son's senior year. I've spent thousands with this company over the years and I'm going to make sure people know how terribly we've been handled. I think that jacket might be sitting in someone's car or office and this woman won't own up to her mistake. It's unacceptable that a company operates this way. With graduation coming up in a month, I'm now stuck having to replace it.
I spent over 5 hours calling back and forth and dealing with returns at the post office. I had to provide receipts, tracking numbers, email confirmations, and proof at every single step. Jostens basically has schools locked into using them, so parents have limited choices. What makes it worse is they bury the basic cap and gown package way down on their website, making it look like the pricey ones with fancy invitations are the main options. Honestly, for anything besides weddings, we've been doing digital invites for the kids' events anyway.
I ordered a hoodie, two t-shirts, cap and gown, extra tassel, graduation announcements and foil name cards on 1/23/25 for $259.23. The shipment arrived missing the two t-shirts and the hoodie. The UPS delivery photo showed a tiny box, definitely not large enough for those items. My son is a 2XL size. Calling customer service was frustrating. Update: After holding for 32 minutes, a rep located my order and confirmed the missing items would be reshipped.
Companies like Jostens have the market locked down because they already have deals with schools, leaving parents with no options. I bought my kids' yearbook in October and since then have gotten constant weekly emails saying I haven't ordered yet and pushing me to buy before the deadline. It feels like a scam tactic. Most families are already stretched financially, so targeting them with pressure to buy extra copies of an already overpriced yearbook is really dishonest.
Way overpriced for such cheap quality. My son's high school had all graduates order their ceremony items through Jostens. The most basic option was a cap, gown, some announcements and a couple small gifts for $200. It seemed expensive but that's what the school required. When we opened the box, it was clear we'd been taken advantage of. The gown material was paper thin, almost transparent in bright light. The cap had the same thin feel as a disposable face mask. The whole situation just proves Jostens has no real competitors and doesn't bother making decent products. I'd recommend anyone to shop around for graduation items elsewhere.
Such poor quality for what you're paying. My son's school required their graduates to order their ceremony package through Jostens. The basic bundle with a cap, gown, announcement cards and a couple small items cost $200. I thought it was pricey when I ordered, but the school said that was the only choice. The school explained they needed matching red gowns to ensure consistency. When our package arrived, I knew we got ripped off. The gown material was so thin it was see-through in sunlight. The cap felt like it was made from the same material as a KN-95 mask, definitely not sturdy. This whole thing just makes me think Jostens has zero real competition and doesn't care about quality. I'd tell anyone to look elsewhere for graduation gear.
I ordered the 2024 yearbook from the high school for my granddaughter but her picture was missing from the final copy.
I purchased the 2024 yearbook for my granddaughter from the high school, but her photo wasn't included in it.
I ended up having to pay a second time for my son's cap and gown after Jostens claimed they couldn't find any details about his name or the initial payment. A month later waiting for my refund, they miraculously discovered the first payment on file but sent double the order. I find it unbelievable that educational institutions still contract with this company.
I had to pay twice for my son's cap and gown because Jostens said they had no record of his information or the original payment. I've been waiting over three weeks for my refund after they suddenly found the first payment and sent double the items. It's shocking that schools continue working with this company.
