Reeds Sporting Goods Reviews
What Shoppers Say About Reeds Sporting Goods
Reeds Sporting Goods has a deeply polarized customer base. Satisfied shoppers praise the store for competitive ammunition pricing, hard-to-find inventory availability, fast fulfillment, and reliable product condition. These customers report successful phone orders, expedited shipping, and overall legitimate business practices. However, the majority of reviews reflect serious operational problems: unexpected billing surprises after purchase, poor in-stock accuracy despite website listings, unresponsive and unhelpful customer service staff (particularly in the firearms department), missing shipping options at checkout, and unclear communication about order delays and address issues.
The core complaints center on customer service failures and order management rather than product quality. Shoppers report difficulty reaching support, vague problem resolution, and a sense that customer inquiries are treated as inconveniences. While the store appears to deliver correctly when orders process smoothly, the frequency of billing errors, inventory problems, and communication breakdowns suggests systemic fulfillment and support issues that create a frustrating experience for most customers.

Sorted by: Most recentI placed an order on their website, paid for the item and shipping costs, then got an email a week later saying I owed an additional one-thirty dollars or needed to cancel.
Their ammo pricing is as low as anywhere else I've searched and trust me, I search a lot. When you find deals that good you get suspicious that something sketchy is going on, but I did my homework, made calls, verified everything, and confirmed this company is legit. Placed an order and they got it out fast. Received everything as expected. I know plenty of folks have preferred vendors they stick with even if they're paying more, but why would you? For my money, Reeds Family Firearms is solid and gets two thumbs up.
The firearms team here is awful. Ask them anything and they either can't answer it or just don't want to. It feels like customers are an inconvenience to them. The stuff they advertise as in stock seems totally random, or maybe their team just can't check inventory properly. Not worth shopping here, the service is terrible and they don't help.
Had to search everywhere for a specific item and Reed's actually had it in stock, brand new. Called in to handle the purchase over the phone and arranged transfer to a local dealer. Got it via expedited mail and it showed up right on schedule, in perfect new condition and working beautifully. This was my second purchase from them. I'm a verified Google reviewer and a genuine customer, so I can say the other negative reviews don't match what I experienced. Everything went smoothly, no complications, no nonsense. They did me right and I'll definitely send my friends their way. Big thanks to Wyatt!
First time ordering with Reeds and it's been disappointing so far. Placed my order Saturday night for two items I desperately needed by Wednesday. I emailed right away explaining the timeline and mentioned I'd pay extra for overnight shipping, but there wasn't an overnight option at checkout, just standard ground. Sunday morning I got a reply from someone helpful named BP saying they'd flag the order for fast processing but I should call Monday for an overnight quote. So Monday I called and the representative said she'd look into a quote and get back to me, though she mentioned FedEx overnight isn't actually guaranteed. I figured I'd take the quote and if they shipped that day it should get here Wednesday. Nothing happened all day Monday. Late Tuesday afternoon at 3:14 I got an email with a price quote instead of a call. I didn't see it until 7:45 PM and by then Wednesday was basically tomorrow. Why would you wait until late Tuesday to send a quote when I ordered Saturday and called Monday? I worked at the Post Office for three decades, overnight is either guaranteed or refunded, and I get that you use FedEx, but the timing on this was terrible.
This retailer should not be in business given their complete lack of customer support. I placed an order for items marked as in stock for a trip happening the next month, got charged right away, but hadn't received anything three weeks later. When I finally reached out, they said there was a problem with my shipping address and they were blocking the order. But they already took my money and the address was correct. They never bothered to call and ask me about it. They promised to send it out that day once I contacted them. Good thing I ordered backup supplies from other reputable companies like Midway and Federal, because they actually delivered like they said they would. If I'd counted on this place, my trip would have been ruined with nothing in hand. Then on the day I was leaving, I called again only to hear they no longer had stock and would refund me. Avoid ordering from them unless you enjoy disappointment and wasted time.
Reeds is my go-to place whenever I need outdoor gear and supplies. Walking through the store feels cool and the crew really knows their stuff. They're always helpful and the inventory is solid. You can find brand names there that you won't necessarily see at other retailers, which is awesome for variety. Their firearms section is impressive and ammo is actually available when other places are picked clean. Plus the Walker location sits right by Leech Lake, so it's a perfect stop on the way out to the water. The website is straightforward and user-friendly too. Every single time I've shopped there, whether online or in person, it's been great.
Stay away from this place! I ordered binoculars from them on October 1st and never got the package. When I finally reached out in early November, they claimed they'd cancelled it due to fraud and said they sent an email notification. I looked everywhere in my inbox and nothing was there, just the original order confirmation and invoice. So I asked why they kept my money if they cancelled the order, and the customer service rep basically had no explanation before offering to process a refund right then and there. How convenient is that? They cancel without telling you, pocket the cash, and only give it back once you complain about it. Total rip-off.
This was genuinely some of the worst and most incompetent customer service I've ever dealt with. I ordered size 10 shoes and received a size 9 in a size 10 box about a week later. A mistake that happens, right? So I call them up and get a return label. They promise me the correct size is in stock and won't be delayed waiting for my return. I ship those shoes back the same day. A week passes and I get a voicemail from someone named Justin saying they don't have my size after all. When I call back, nobody even knows who Justin is. I tell them the guy just left me a voicemail. They put me on hold listening to weird wolf sounds, then say Justin exists but isn't there today. I tell them he called me moments ago. More weird hold music, then they hang up on me. My next call demands a supervisor, who turns out to be Chad, described as "the gun guy." Apparently Justin is "the shoe guy" but was somewhere deep in their warehouse and nobody knew. Eventually I got my refund but this operation is completely disorganized.
