What Shoppers Say About SAIL Canada
SAIL Canada is rated 1.3 out of 5 by 20 shoppers, with the overwhelming majority reporting serious problems. The most frequently cited issues involve unresponsive customer service (shoppers report unanswered emails and calls spanning weeks), order cancellations without clear explanation, packages arriving damaged due to inadequate packaging, and inflexible return policies on clearance items. Several reviewers also report problems with the Nationex shipping carrier used by the company, describing it as unreliable with no defined delivery windows. A small number of shoppers note that in-store shopping experiences are occasionally acceptable, but online ordering appears consistently problematic.
No shoppers in recent reviews recommend purchasing from SAIL Canada online. Those who have had issues report feeling ignored by the company and express concerns about payment security and order fulfillment. In-store shopping may be a safer option for some customers, but the consistent complaints about damaged shipments, order issues, and unresponsive support suggest potential systemic problems at the retailer.

Sorted by: Most recentTerrible customer service from this Quebec-based company. I ordered running shoes and after three days called asking why they hadn't shipped. I gave them two more weeks to send them. Instead, someone named Caroline shipped and then cancelled my order. When I tried contacting her supervisor, there was no accountability whatsoever. The only positive is they did refund me. Don't bother with this company because they clearly don't care about their customers.
This company doesn't stand by their warranty. I bought a pair of Daiwa line counter reels and one quit working the second time I used it. The store manager said to bring it in and they'd honor the warranty since they have an agreement with Daiwa. I drove over an hour to hear them say they could only give me the newer model for a $95 upcharge, information they could have shared on the phone. Now I'd need to drive another three hours to pick it up. Combined with gas costs, it would've been cheaper to just buy a new reel from somewhere else. I'm never coming back.
I want to thank the team at the store today for their excellent help. Ben, a sales associate, took time to find shoes that worked for my wide feet and waterproof needs, explaining the different features of each brand. The checkout staff also gave me the helpful tip to try them on indoors when I got home to make sure they were the right fit.
This place has no idea what they're doing. The shoe section staff never pick up their phones. You reach someone who isn't even on that team and they can't help you check what's in stock. I'm done shopping here. Everything's been falling apart since the pandemic started.
I strongly do not recommend this company. I paid for a new Lowrance elite 7 FS all season package on November 26th and was immediately charged. They asked about my experience without following up on the major issues I was having. My product never arrived. I've emailed both the carrier and the store repeatedly and nobody can tell me where it is. They sent one email saying they'd look into it, but that was over two days ago with no update. There's been no apology or acknowledgment of how frustrating this is. I'm sitting here with a $1400 charge on my card for something that may not even come. The update made it worse: they confirmed the package is lost but still no apology or real accountability. They just said thanks for your patience and will process a refund whenever they feel like it. Their customer service is a disaster.
This is basically theft. I bought what was supposedly a Fjallraven sweater from this store. After carefully hand washing it once and hanging it up, there are now two holes in it, probably from the hanger. I bought it in summer to wear in fall and only opened the package today. Of course, it's way past their 45-day return window. I'm out $200 and can't do anything about it. Whether the fault is with Fjallraven or Sail doesn't matter at this point. This is completely unacceptable.
Went in last night to get a baitcaster and the grumpy employee working that section walked past me several times without offering help. When I finally asked for assistance, he gave me attitude and said they didn't have the reel even though it was showing online as in stock. This isn't the first time this has happened. I overheard him mention finding it but by then it was too late. If this place weren't so convenient, I would've stopped coming a long time ago.
I've been fishing for over 50 years and used fluorocarbon leaders most of that time. Berkeley and Maxima always worked great. I tried Seagar 10lb and it's terrible. Lost three lures worth over $50, something that's never happened before. Took it back to the fishing department and they insisted it was fine even when two people tested it. They refused to give me a refund or exchange. This isn't the first bad experience I've had here either. Skip this place and go to Cabellas.
I'd give them zero stars if possible. Called the fishing department and either nobody answered or staff told me to call back after 5:30 because they were too busy. No wonder they've been closing stores in Ontario.
