What Shoppers Say About Apex Hotels UK
Apex Hotels UK receives deeply polarized reviews, with shoppers either expressing strong satisfaction or significant disappointment. Positive reviewers praise the modern, spacious rooms, immaculate cleanliness, helpful front desk staff, and convenient London locations. These satisfied guests highlight the hotels' willingness to accommodate special requests and provide complimentary upgrades. However, the majority of reviews reflect serious operational failures. Common complaints include dirty and moldy rooms, inadequate housekeeping services with late or poor-quality cleaning, broken air conditioning, noisy environments, maintenance issues (faulty toilets, falling apart furniture), and unmet special needs (such as failure to provide allergy-appropriate synthetic bedding despite prior confirmation). Dining experiences are also criticized as poor quality with cold food and minimal service.
The stark contrast between five-star and one-star ratings suggests inconsistency across locations and service standards. While some guests have excellent experiences, particularly those celebrating special occasions, others encounter substandard cleanliness, broken amenities, and a failure to honor explicit health and comfort requests. These recurring issues regarding housekeeping standards, room maintenance, and attention to guest requirements represent serious concerns for potential visitors.

Sorted by: Most recentThe food quality and value at the restaurant at Apex Dundee were really disappointing. I sent three separate emails trying to get my complaint addressed and haven't received any response. I also tried to find a way to escalate the issue to someone higher up at Apex, but there doesn't seem to be a formal complaints process available. Very frustrated with how this was handled.
I booked a room but wasn't able to make it due to a work conflict. I spoke with a representative named Ms. Amanda about the situation. She said they would charge me anyway even though I never showed up. She did offer to let me reschedule, but at a higher rate. Overall, it was a frustrating experience.
I had possibly the worst service and breakfast experience of my life at this hotel. Let me break down what went wrong. The breakfast was terrible. We waited a long time to be seated, assuming it would be a buffet setup. It turned out we had to order, and the server took forever to come take our request. All the tables around us had piles of dirty dishes that nobody cleared. When the food finally arrived, I lost my appetite because of how filthy the dining area was and honestly the food tasted awful. We asked about getting robes and were told they don't provide them for our type of booking. We paid £478 for two nights and you could get a much nicer luxury hotel in London for that price. The pool area had no staff supervising it at all, which is a safety concern if something happened to a swimmer. If you want a nice experience, skip this place. For the price, there's nothing luxury about it whatsoever.
Temple Court Hotel cancelled our reservation just over a week before we were supposed to check in, claiming the hotel had overbooked. We'd reserved and paid for these rooms back in early 2021, well before the hotel was even at capacity. It's hard to understand how any company thinks it's okay to treat customers this way. This is completely unacceptable and frankly shameful.
Apex Grassmarket Hotel in Edinburgh let me down completely. The city itself was great, but the hotel was a major disappointment. It was old and shabby with bad customer service. The walls had marks on them, the carpet had stains that looked like chemical damage, and the bed felt like concrete, making sleep nearly impossible. When we asked if staff could help make it more comfortable, they said they didn't have any mattress toppers available. The swimming pool water was disgusting, and the sauna wasn't working. This isn't a budget place either. I paid £161 for what amounted to a subpar experience that was no better than staying at a cheap bed and breakfast. I won't be going back. It's hands down the worst hotel I've ever been to.
Fantastic service and really friendly staff at Apex Hotel Dundee. The place is spotlessly clean. We had an issue and were impressed by how well they looked after us with a credit. The swimming pool was open, though some of the other facilities are still waiting to reopen depending on COVID situation. The meal was absolutely brilliant. The £8 upcharge for the 6oz steak felt pricey though, even if the steak itself was excellent. That was disappointing given how great the service and the rest of the food were. One thing was the room temperature, which was a problem, but that's not something Apex can control since the rooms don't have air conditioning. Overall fantastic stay and thank you for all the friendly help.
Apex Hotel Bath. I'm leaving this review to point out how important good customer service is to a hotel's reputation. I might have given this place 4 or 5 stars, but the staff ruined it. The people at reception were helpful and friendly, but the dining staff fell way short of what you'd expect from a 4-star property. Never argue with your paying guests because they'll tell everyone on review sites and booking platforms about it.
I've stayed at multiple Apex Hotels in Edinburgh and Bath over the years and the experience has always been great. The staff members are consistently warm, friendly, and willing to go the extra mile. Each location has its own unique charm while maintaining that distinctive Apex quality. Highly recommended.
I've stayed at several Apex Hotels across Edinburgh and Bath and every time has been fantastic. The staff is warm, friendly, and always willing to help. The hotels are full of character while still maintaining that signature Apex feel. Would definitely recommend.
Stayed at Apex Edinburgh Castle View Hotel and was completely let down. I came to Edinburgh to enjoy the city, and while the city was beautiful, the hotel was a total letdown. It's old, poorly run, and the customer service is terrible. The hotel advertises certain amenities as part of the package, but when you get there, those facilities are closed. When I asked why, the reception staff blamed the booking website for not updating their info. As for customer service, the employees don't even know basic facts about the hotel, so they can't help when you need something. They're rude, careless, and unhelpful. Instead of actually assisting guests, they blame others. The management is weak, and everything looks worn out and outdated. I've never slept on an older or cheaper mattress, and honestly the floor would have been better. The chair in the room was broken and you couldn't adjust the height. Every time someone sat on it, it would collapse all the way down. The TV stand was
