Our local appliance store replaced the pulley and belt three times on their dime because GE refused to swap out the whole machine. When it happened a fourth time about four months back, GE sent their own service tech. He swapped the pulley, belt, and tightened whatever he could reach. Still refused to replace it. Every single failure meant no washer for roughly ten days, which meant trips to the laundromat. Now it's failed a fifth time and we already ordered a completely different brand even though we still have almost two years left on this useless warranty. The constant inconvenience and laundromat costs just aren't worth it anymore. We complained to GE and even the state Attorney General but apparently there's nothing anyone can do.
I purchased a GE Model GGF600AVSS gas range on January 30th of this year and had it switched over to propane when it arrived. Every time the stove tries to ignite, it makes a sound like a blast. When the burner actually turns on, it howls like a blowtorch. It's genuinely unsettling thinking the place might explode. Techs came out on March 4th and 18th, then went out again May 29th and July 24th. On that last date they informed me that engineering had determined there was no possible fix. The gas company checked our house regulators a couple times and said they work correctly. I mailed a letter to corporate in September. They phoned back saying they wanted a recording of the noise and promised to email me a link, but the link never showed up. Been unable to get in touch with them since. I'm shopping for a replacement range and will never purchase a GE product again.

Once the burner kicks on it sounds like a blowtorch. Pretty terrifying when you think your house might blow up. I've had repair folks out here multiple times: March 4th and 18th, then again on May 29th and July 24th. That last visit in July, they told me the engineering team said there's no solution. I'm never buying another GE product and I'm actively shopping for a different brand to replace this range.
I've bought three different GE microwaves over time. The first one made it five or six years. The second lasted about three years. The most recent one, and it's definitely my last, only made it one year and twenty-three days. Twenty-three days beyond when the warranty expired. GE microwaves just aren't reliable and the quality is really poor. Seriously, don't buy them.
My experience with these two GE appliances has been really disappointing considering they're only a few years old. I had a fridge and microwave that worked great for over 25 years before I replaced them. These new ones? Not even close. The Profile refrigerator cost me four grand. Right after the warranty ended, problems started popping up one after another. The freezer fan failed and I had to install a replacement myself. The auto fill water feature barely works and either doesn't fill at all or overflows, which ended up destroying the drawer board and I need to buy a new one. Now there's another fan going out. Plus the icemaker isn't working and I don't know how much it'll cost to fix. The microwave's LED screen just flashes all the time and needs a new main board. I won't buy another GE product ever again. They're not a smart investment and seem built to break down with no quality checks. You're just going to end up spending tons of money on repairs.
I'm talking about a pair of newer GE appliances here. My old fridge and microwave? Those things ran strong for over 25 years before I replaced them. Not anymore. First, there's this $4K Profile fridge. Soon as the warranty expired, everything started going wrong. The freezer fan quit and I had to swap it myself. The automatic water fill system basically doesn't work right, either not filling or overfilling and the extra water fried the drawer board. Now a second fan is dead and needs replacing. The ice maker stopped working completely. Still trying to figure out what that repair is going to cost me. Then the microwave started acting up too. The LED display flashes constantly and it needs a new main board. I'm done with GE completely. Their stuff is not worth the money and just seems designed to fail with zero quality control. All they do is eat up your cash with repairs.
GE's Bodewell Appliance repair service is hands down the absolute worst outfit I have dealt with. My four year old GE Profile fridge stopped working (compressor failure). Waited a full week for a repair person to show up. They diagnosed it and told me parts would take three weeks. Fast forward and the parts are sitting in my kitchen, but Bodewell refused to move my appointment up. FOUR WEEKS WITHOUT A REFRIGERATOR! Seriously? I had to borrow one from family. Also, folks should know GE Appliances isn't American-owned anymore. It's owned by a Chinese company called HAIER, and that explains perfectly why their stuff has become absolute junk. We've always purchased GE products in the past but never again.
Would rate this minus stars if possible. Got a GE washer, model GTW465ASN9WW, in June 2023. Just two days ago the bolt that secures the agitator base snapped completely in two. To make matters worse, it was rusted. What company installs parts in their machines that are going to corrode like that? We're definitely not getting another GE washer. Had a Kenmore back in 1989 that worked perfectly fine for 25 years. So where's your pride and integrity, GE?

IMPORTANT: DON'T PURCHASE GE APPLIANCES IF YOU VALUE DURABILITY AND RELIABILITY. I bought a brand new GE washer, model GFW655SSV0WW, on March 28, 2024. Fast forward seventeen months and the machine completely died. It quit working entirely and I had to pay $420 out of my own pocket for a Main Electronic Control Panel replacement. This is completely unacceptable for a brand new appliance. I've had good luck with GE stuff in the past, so I actually picked up four additional GE appliances at that same time based on my past experiences. Now this situation has shown me that GE's build quality and dependability have really fallen off. A critical part like the control panel shouldn't die this quickly in an appliance's lifespan. It makes you wonder about the overall quality and longevity of GE's whole product lineup today. I'm asking GE to examine my case and provide compensation or reimburse me for the repair. Fair warning to shoppers: you might end up with appliances that don't last long and will cost you serious money in repairs. I expected a lot more from GE and I hope they actually do something about this.
