I looked up videos, tried using pliers, nothing worked. Who designs a flap that's exactly the right size to jam in the zipper? I contacted them and they said they'd fix or replace it with a 4 week wait. I use my backpack every day for work so I can't just not have it for a month. Really poor design and quality. Won't be buying their products ever again. Sixty dollars for one week of use is a complete waste.
I'd give them a zero if I could. Seriously, don't buy from them. These bags are overpriced and they're misleading people by still advertising a lifetime warranty when they've clearly stopped standing behind it. These things won't even make it a year. When you need to return something, they make you work with a separate shipping company and you foot the bill. Basically, they have no responsibility for their own products. They're clearly betting that most people will just give up on returns. Plus, that customer service number they advertise? Good luck getting anyone to pick up during their listed hours. The whole experience is disappointing.
Used to be a great brand with great service. My old backpack lasted over 12 years and traveled with me across 3 continents and through more than 20 countries. The new one is already falling apart after only 6 months. The quality and service have seriously gone downhill. I emailed about the issue and they told me I'd have to ship it to another country at £25 just to have someone look at it. Not pleased about that at all. Probably won't be ordering from them again.
Both my kids have JanSport backpacks and both had zippers stop working. My daughter's broke back in 2018 and they fixed it in a couple weeks. My son's zipper broke in 2022. I sent pictures to JanSport on December 9th, 2022 and waited over a month with nothing. Then they emailed asking me to pick a replacement backpack worth $70, which I did, and heard nothing after that. Now it's March 17th, 2023 and still no response. I've been sending them emails weekly with nothing. I even tried filing a fresh claim with new pictures and still nothing back. The warranty department doesn't take phone calls and customer service won't help past customers. It's beyond frustrating at this point. They seem to be counting on people getting tired of trying and just giving up. I'm really let down with how they're treating me.
At first I was satisfied with the bag and the quality was solid. Then it broke and I emailed the warranty team, which is basically your only contact option. I filed a claim on September 21st and got a message saying it would take 5 to 10 days to hear back. I reached out again on October 17th and got the same response. I tried the phone number on their site but found out that's only for people trying to buy stuff. Apparently there's no other way to contact them. It's now December 9th and still nothing. I bought the bag specifically because of their warranty promise. Looks like I'm moving on to a different brand since they're not responding and won't honor what they promised. This is really disappointing.
Excellent product and excellent customer support. The only downside was how long shipping took - it went over 2 weeks because the shipping company misplaced it, but JanSport stepped up and sent me a replacement right away.
The style options available are fantastic! Our kids' backpacks have held up great and made it through multiple school years in good condition.

I LOVE THIS BAG SO MUCH!! Just bought a JanSport and I'm completely in love with it. It's super comfortable and holds everything I need plus more. Perfect for school since there's a laptop compartment too. Totally recommend for high school or college students.
