What Shoppers Say About LifeStraw
LifeStraw products have received predominantly negative feedback from shoppers, with 24 reviews averaging 1.6 out of 5. The most common complaints center on poor customer service experiences, including slow response times, unhelpful AI chatbot support, and difficulty obtaining replacements or refunds. Shoppers also report issues with product quality, including chemical odors and tastes that persist even after cleaning, leaking dispensers, clogged filters, and concerns that the filtration does not adequately remove viruses, heavy metals, and certain chemicals. Several reviewers noted the lack of a phone support line, making it difficult to resolve problems quickly.
A small percentage of shoppers gave positive ratings, suggesting some customers have had satisfactory experiences with LifeStraw products. However, the overwhelming majority of feedback indicates significant dissatisfaction with both the products themselves and the company's responsiveness to customer concerns. Common frustrations include unclear product specifications regarding filtration capabilities, difficulty understanding proper filter storage and maintenance, and the challenge of pursuing returns or replacements through an online-only system. These recurring issues suggest potential gaps in product quality control and customer support infrastructure.

Sorted by: Most recentI need to warn everyone: DO NOT BUY FROM LIFESTRAW. I placed an order more than a month ago and it still hasn't arrived. They don't have a phone number for customer service. Nobody has reached out to me. I've sent multiple emails to their customer service department and nothing. I want a refund. This company provides absolutely zero customer service. They clearly don't care about keeping customers happy. If you're thinking about ordering, think again. Don't support a business that rips people off like this. Especially for a water bottle that costs over sixty dollars. Never thought a company like this would treat me this way. Completely disappointed.
I've bought three replacement filters for my collapsible bottle and every single one came unsealed and used. They look like someone else returned them and the company just resold them without checking. This is gross. How can you trust a water filtration company that sends you unsealed, dirty filters with grime all over them? It's unsanitary and speaks volumes about their integrity. They should at least use sealed packaging or put a safety seal on the box so you know if it's been opened. This is ridiculous.
I'm urging everyone to stay away from LifeStraw. I bought some items from their website using Venmo, never got the products, no order confirmation, and after sending seven emails back and forth with their so-called customer service, they basically told me to deal with my bank and that was it. Their technology is clearly broken. I lost one hundred eighty-five dollars and now have to fight with my bank to sort it out. This company doesn't care.
I'm skeptical about what this product actually claims to do. When I tested it out, the water quality actually got worse after filtering, not better. The PPM readings went up instead of down, which makes zero sense. The company won't give me any real answer about why this is happening. No explanation, no support, nothing.
The mouthpiece gets really gross really quickly. And if you need replacement mouthpieces, good luck finding them in stock. They've been out for years.
Great outfit to work with. I've purchased three of their travel filters and they all work amazingly. I've used them on long expeditions throughout sub-Saharan Africa and everything held up perfectly even when filtering questionable tap water and river sources. What I love most is their commitment to standing behind their products. When I had a seal issue on one, they shipped me a replacement immediately with zero hassle. This is the kind of company that genuinely values its customers. Highly recommend.
Don't buy directly from LifeStraw's official site. I ordered a replacement with express shipping for an upcoming trip and it never showed up. They completely failed to confirm shipment and the item never arrived. I tried reaching out repeatedly through email and their contact form with no response whatsoever. After months went by, I had to contact my bank to get a refund. Then LifeStraw turned around and charged my card again without any explanation. My bank gave me another refund since LifeStraw had zero proof of shipment. It's shocking that a company would treat customers this way and ignore all communication attempts. They only seem to care once a refund gets processed. Really let down by this brand.
Ordered multiple items that never showed up at my door. Customer service won't even reply to my messages. Would not suggest this to anyone.
Such a shame because their products are actually nice and well-built. However: replacement parts are impossible to get. Customer service is disappointing. Dropped close to sixty dollars on a pitcher filter. I made the mistake of letting it dry out. Now the filter won't work and I can't find a replacement anywhere. What's the point of building good products if you won't support customers after purchase with spare parts? They clearly don't care.
Their automatic email response says they might take up to four days to reply. My package went to the wrong address and I contacted them within ten minutes of placing the order. Took them until the next day to get back to me and by then the order was already shipped. Here's the problem though: they can't cancel it, won't refund me, can't send a replacement to my real address, and basically can't do anything except apologize. They offered no solutions and had no ideas for making it right. I've been a loyal customer for years, though I usually bought through Amazon. Now I know I should have just waited for Amazon to get it back in stock. I'm done ordering directly from their site.
