What Shoppers Say About LiveAquaria
LiveAquaria receives overwhelmingly negative feedback, with shoppers reporting frequent deaths of fish and other aquatic animals during shipping. Customers describe receiving animals in inadequate water conditions, with multiple fish dying before arrival or shortly after opening packages. Several reviewers mention ordering live stock specifically and experiencing total loss or near-total loss of their purchases, with complaints about lack of communication and refusal to provide compensation or meaningful remedies beyond store credit for low-quality items.
The small number of positive reviews (11 percent) suggests some shoppers have had acceptable experiences, but the dominant pattern across feedback is severe dissatisfaction with animal survival rates, packing quality, and customer service responsiveness. Reviewers recommend avoiding the retailer and seeking alternatives, with some noting they stopped ordering years ago after initial bad experiences.

Sorted by: Most recentThis place was genuinely great back when it was operated by a particular owner whose name escapes me at the moment. That was quite a while back. These days the quality is just average at best. My understanding is they're under corporate ownership now, but regardless, I won't be putting in any more orders with them.
This will be my last purchase from them. I had a phone conversation with a customer service rep named Sherry and she was incredibly unprofessional and dismissive. The order was supposed to arrive overnight by early afternoon but the shipping carrier dropped the ball, and this company just made excuses for them. Their ordering website is also really poorly designed, which caused me to accidentally place the same order twice. They promised it would disappear from my account within a couple of days but I'm still waiting to see that happen. I wouldn't recommend ordering from them. Update: The fish did eventually show up alive, though late. However, I ordered two Kribensis fish but received long-finned Zebra Danios instead. How can a company calling themselves aquatic specialists mess up that badly? Clearly whoever picks the animals has no idea what they're doing. It's amateur operations over there.
They claim to refund you but they actually don't. When five fish I received died shortly after arrival, they gave me a measly ten dollar store credit. You can't get replacements because of the way they handle shipping. That ten bucks just sits there unused. I've lost more of their fish over time since then, and two months later things are actually going better. The other fish I own and the ones I've gotten elsewhere are all thriving. Go with a local pet shop or find a different company that actually stands behind their animals. Note that this company is owned by a major corporate retailer.
This company doesn't honor what they say they'll do. I purchased sick fish that all passed away in less than seven days and they also infected my existing tank inhabitants. When I asked for my money back, they refused. They even warned me not to dispute the charge with my credit card company, threatening to ban me from future orders. I went ahead with the dispute anyway, but honestly it doesn't matter because I would never order from them again. There are much better options out there. Steer clear of this place.
I placed an order for a dwarf gourami and got a confirmation email, then got another email saying it was delayed. I checked the site and it said out of stock so maybe they miscounted inventory. A whole month went by. When I looked again, the fish was back in stock, so I called to ask about my order. The rep told me they had already canceled it a couple days before without ever notifying me. I had to go back through a month of credit card statements to verify they actually reversed the charge, and thankfully they had. Since I never got the fish, I can't really review the quality. Just disappointing overall.
I cannot believe how bad this experience was. I wish I'd read reviews first before deciding to shop here. They messed up not one but two separate orders, and when I asked to cancel the whole thing, they promised the charges would drop off in three to five business days. Six days passed and they told me it would definitely be gone by the next day. That deadline came and went with no refund. You'd genuinely have better luck wading into the ocean yourself and catching wild fish or hunting for corals. A one star rating doesn't even feel harsh enough for this place.
DO NOT ORDER FISH FROM HERE. I bought nine guppies recently and when they showed up, the largest one was in terrible shape like he was decomposing. He could barely move around and seemed extremely ill, probably had been for a long time. He was just barely alive and shaking constantly. His back fin was drooping and swimming was nearly impossible. He was gone within a couple hours. A second guppy died about an hour after that. As for the blue variety, out of three only one looked remotely okay. The other two had chewed and rotting fins. One of the sick ones had a huge belly and fins that were a dull grayish blue rather than bright blue, like he'd been beaten up, and his face was pale with eyes popping out. Seriously like zombie fish. Most of them also had white stringy waste which usually means parasites or bacteria. Their only refund option is store credit. But why would I ever buy anything else from a company that sent me this garbage? I've purchased from the major pet store chains before and even when their stock is questionable, they've never sold me anything close to this low quality. Absolutely unacceptable.
Really satisfied. Purchased three hundred dollars worth of coral and fish and felt it was definitely worth every penny.
