What Shoppers Say About Mayt
Maytag receives overwhelmingly negative feedback from shoppers, with 19 reviews averaging 1.1 out of 5. Across multiple appliance categories (washers, dryers, dishwashers), customers report significant reliability issues within the first year of ownership. Common complaints include component failures requiring multiple repair visits, extended wait times between service appointments (sometimes weeks), and frustration with warranty coverage that becomes limited after the initial twelve-month period from delivery rather than from actual use.
Customer service and repair support emerge as major pain points, with shoppers describing interactions as unhelpful or unresponsive. Several reviewers mention being charged substantial diagnostic fees despite warranty coverage claims. The combination of premature appliance failures and poor repair experiences has led multiple customers to explicitly state they will not purchase Maytag products again, with some comparing the brand unfavorably to significantly cheaper alternatives.

Sorted by: Most recentBought a Maytag Pet Pro combo unit brand new in fall 2024 but didn't use it until mid-2025. Just seven months of actual use and the dryer motor quit working. The full warranty runs twelve months from delivery, so even though I only actually used it for seven months, the fact that I've had it for longer than a year means it dropped to the ten year motor only coverage. That means I pay for labor and the service charge. The tech trip fee was one hundred thirty-nine dollars and labor ran one hundred thirty. On top of that even though the motor was covered, they said I had to buy a new plastic fan that attaches to the motor because it always breaks when removed, and that was another forty-eight dollars. So basically there's no such thing as a free warranty repair even with their so-called ten year warranty on parts. The fan should be covered. I mentioned this to the technician and he actually laughed because the whole thing felt like a scam. Total out of pocket came to three hundred twenty dollars to fix an eight hundred seventy dollar dryer I'd only used for half a year.
Got a washer in early 2023 for around nine hundred dollars. It stopped working so I contacted Maytag. Took eight days before someone came out to tell me the clutch was bad and they'd have to order a part. Then another nine days passed before they showed up again. Never spending that much on a high end washer again. Pick up a three hundred dollar model and you're lucky if it lasts two years.
Got a Maytag washer in mid-2022 and basically every component has needed replacing with numerous repair visits already. Right now I'm a month into waiting for just another part to get it running again. It's beyond frustrating to not have use of the machine. Repair techs have mentioned not putting blankets or throw rugs in since the machine can't handle it, even though I paid for a large capacity model. I'm about ready to throw this out, though I have no idea what else to buy. Thanks for nothing Maytag.
Awful! They wanted over three hundred dollars just to send someone out and look at my washing machine. This despite a sticker right on it saying ten year parts coverage. Won't ever purchase another Maytag appliance. Just don't.
Got a dishwasher that quit after a month. Customer support is worthless. Repairs aren't happening. Won't shop Maytag again.
Got a dishwasher that stopped working after a month. Customer service was useless. Forget about repairs. I'm done with Maytag for good.
Don't buy a Maytag washer or dryer. Got a brand new set four years ago and the drum bearings are trashed, needing a thousand dollar replacement. Tried calling them to discuss what's covered and spent over an hour on hold bouncing between departments. Our repair guy says Maytag is the worst to own since they fail constantly, like every single day he sees these things. I'm writing this so others know to skip Whirlpool and Maytag completely. Don't throw your money away like we did. Their warranty only covers the drivetrain and basket, which are the two parts that basically never break. What a ripoff.
My dishwasher broke and when I called Maytag they wouldn't cover it, so I paid three hundred bucks for a service visit. They sent out an unprepared local contractor working through Maytag's repair network. Made big promises but showed up multiple times with different reasons why they couldn't fix the problem. Eventually they just stopped responding to my messages and calls. I wasted money on that repair and it never got done. Maytag wasn't helpful either, saying that while I waited for parts to come in, my repair ticket got closed so there was nothing they could help with. Get a different brand. This one isn't worth it.
My time with Maytag has been nothing short of disappointing. Washer came to me in summer, and by early fall it quit working. I notified them right away but even after many emails asking for service or a replacement unit, nothing got fixed. Maytag keeps dropping the ball coordinating with their repair partner, and I'm stuck chasing them for updates and repeating myself constantly. It's shocking how little they care about accountability and customer support. I shouldn't have to spend hours waiting on hold with their warranty team, sometimes over sixty minutes straight, just to get nothing solved. Their warranty promises mean zero when they can't actually handle repairs or replacements in a reasonable way. As of this writing, my machine still sits broken and it's been weeks. No communication, constant waiting, and zero regard for my situation makes Maytag something to absolutely skip. Buying this washer was my biggest regret.
Hands down the worst customer service I've seen. Placed an order more than a month ago and it keeps showing awaiting shipment. I've done two online chats and had to wait over thirty minutes each time to talk to a real person. Made a phone call too and waited more than thirty minutes. They keep charging my credit card as well.
