What Shoppers Say About myplates.com
MyPlates.com is rated 1.2 out of 5 by 10 shoppers, with the vast majority expressing serious dissatisfaction. The most consistent complaints involve unresponsive and hostile customer service, long delays in plate delivery (with some customers waiting three months or longer), bait-and-switch pricing practices where customers were charged differently than advertised, and a lack of accountability when issues arise. Customers report that support staff are rude, disconnect calls without resolution, and deflect responsibility by directing customers to handle DMV issues themselves despite having already paid for the service. One shopper noted that prices are significantly higher than competitors. A single three-star review provides the only positive feedback, where a company representative eventually took initiative to contact the customer and check with the DMV directly, though even this reviewer acknowledged the overall experience had been problematic.

Sorted by: Most recentOrdered a five year plate back in April and used a seventy five dollar rebate offer that I confirmed I qualified for with their team before completing my purchase. The plate arrived and got shipped out on schedule, but their support is really bad. I noticed problems right away with how they handled simple questions about shipping dates and they'd just close chat conversations without confirming whether anything was actually resolved. When the DMV notified me the plate came in, I installed it right away, but that rebate card never showed up. I've contacted their support through chat more than ten separate times asking about it and every time they say it's under review and they'll email me in a few days. Flash forward to now, almost a year later in March, and still no rebate. Their support keeps saying the home office is looking into it, then they disconnect. They even banned my IP from using the chat function. Don't trust anything they claim about rebates. This company is running a straight up scam.
Ordered a five year plate and got hit with a bait and switch where they claimed it was only good for one year. I sent them proof showing the actual terms but they wouldn't listen. The price difference was clear, one ninety four for the annual versus five forty for the full five years, but I only got credit for two and a half years of service. Now they say those plates expired and want me to buy them again. Totally unacceptable. Plus their so called discounts are fake, they just hike the original price when you apply the code and you end up paying the same thing anyway. Watch out for these people, their support is atrocious. It seems like the whole system is designed just to pull money out of customers without giving anything back in return.
Three months have gone by and I still haven't seen the plates I dropped five hundred and seventy dollars on. When I tried contacting support about this, they were incredibly rude and actually disconnected on me without any resolution. Seriously, do not do business with them.
Good news is that someone from the company eventually reached out and gave me better details about where my plates stood. They even checked in with the DMV to find out when production would finish and what timeframe I was looking at. Appreciate them stepping up to own their part in things, even though the DMV handles the actual manufacturing. But here's the thing: I've been sitting around for two months waiting on this order. Turns out production hit a snag that nobody told me about upfront. When you call their support line, you get this brush off about it being a state plate so it's not their problem anymore. Won't lift a finger to help. And they definitely don't spell any of this out in your order confirmation, so you have to dig through their FAQ section yourself. Communication is seriously lacking. If something goes sideways with your plate, good luck figuring it out without doing a ton of research on your own because they keep you completely in the dark. Wouldn't buy from them again and I'm telling everyone I know in Texas the same thing.
Their customer service is absolutely terrible. The people answering calls are hostile and they never seem to actually be able to fix anything. I ordered plates three months back and all they keep telling me is to check with the county myself. I paid them already and somehow that doesn't mean they take any responsibility for anything. Makes no sense.
Really bad experience with this place. For starters, their prices are way too high. I went ahead and ordered anyway. Placed my order back in April, set up a payment plan, and made each monthly payment on schedule. Finished paying everything off early in August. Then I found out my plate got rejected. You'd think they could have let me know that wouldn't work before taking over five hundred dollars from me? Now they're saying it'll take more than a month to process a refund. Skip this company. Their support team is unhelpful and they operate without any real integrity. They grab your money and then make returning it next to impossible.
Just don't waste your time. They're trying to force me to repay an order fee for plates that are in perfect condition from a vehicle that got totaled. I still have the actual plates and they're fine, but apparently I have to pay them almost four hundred bucks to reorder them if I want to use them again. Called them multiple times and got nowhere. Sent emails and got rude responses that weren't useful at all. Won't even discuss a discount, just keep demanding more money.
I placed an order, paid the full amount, but the plates never showed up. When I asked about my order status, I was told they don't actually make plates for Texas residents and sent me to contact the state instead. This whole operation seems like a scam. Buyers need to be really careful here.
Pretty worthless experience overall. My order got cancelled because apparently what I picked wasn't allowed, but they didn't bother telling me until two weeks had passed, which just so happens to be at the end of their stated delivery window. So I basically spent fourteen days waiting to find out they'd already killed my order two weeks before, and by then I could have switched designs and had the new ones in hand already. And the staff handling my case was really unprofessional and couldn't actually help me solve anything. No apology, no offer to make it right, nothing.
