The room at the Miami Red Roof Plus location was gross. The carpet felt damp and smelled moldy. There was no airport shuttle service. The bathroom dispenser wasn't working and front desk said they'd fix it after we checked out. The only good thing was the location itself. We'd stayed there a year earlier and the decline has been noticeable.

Had a bad experience at the University Drive location in Huntsville, Alabama. As a regular guest since late July, I've witnessed disrespectful treatment toward Black customers. The staff assumes everyone uses drugs. I've personally seen drug activity coming from hotel employees who live on the property. Some guests apparently stay for free. How does a business like this even function?

Stayed at the Augusta location on Washington Road and had a terrible experience. The shower was disgusting and we didn't feel comfortable using it. Several light fixtures weren't working. Breakfast was disappointing with cold coffee, stale bread, and hard cold biscuits. The sink drained slowly, the fridge barely got cold and was leaking, and the door lock at the top was falling apart. The mattress was extremely uncomfortable like sleeping on rocks. Most of the furniture looked ancient with unstable chair backs and one seat that was way too small. There wasn't even ice available. Skip this place and spend your money somewhere better.

Be careful with your credit card here. If you reserve through a third party booking app, staff without visible name tags might cancel your prepaid reservation without permission and rebook you directly through the hotel, resulting in double charges. That's what happened to us. We were charged twice despite already paying. When we came back to fix it, staff wouldn't give us a proper receipt for the duplicate charge, which violates consumer rights, and actually went to hide in the back office claiming they couldn't help. We've filed a complaint with the appropriate agency but won't return to any Red Roof location again.

Made my reservation back in November for a two night trip to York Pennsylvania that required my family to take time off work. Two weeks before we were supposed to arrive, the hotel called to cancel our booking. That's absolutely unacceptable customer service no matter what industry you're in. I called their customer service line and got told they'd file a formal complaint and send an apology. That doesn't help when my reservation was booked six months in advance and now I'm scrambling to find different lodging last minute that's further from the event we paid to attend. We coordinated with others staying there too for carpooling. Red Roof clearly doesn't value customer loyalty or their reputation.

Absolutely forgettable experience. This place defines rock bottom for budget hotels, with zero regard for cleanliness, safety, or basic guest care. Walking in, you knew something was off. The room was filthy, like a showcase of abandonment. Bathtub had stains, sink was grimy, toilet looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. The ceiling had visible mold discoloration and water damage from ongoing leaks. The workers were totally apathetic, unprofessional, disheveled, and some reeked of marijuana. The bedside lamp only worked if you pushed the nightstand at a weird angle, creating a hazard. The curtains were blackened and hanging off the rod. Nothing about this was acceptable.

Worst experience ever. I paid through a travel booking site in advance, then got charged again at check-in not as a hold but as a separate actual charge. The front desk staff were unwelcoming and unhelpful. When I mentioned the filthy bedding, they told me I'd have to remake the bed myself even though I paid for clean linens. The heater turned on with the AC but had no controller, and a rude clerk suggested I stick my fingers in it to turn it off. They eventually refunded only one night after checkout. The cleaning crew walked around smoking cigars inside this supposedly non-smoking property. Everything was falling apart. Corporate wouldn't respond to my complaints. If you're visiting the Brandon or Tampa area, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. The building is crumbling, the bathroom is ancient, and the elevator is scarier than any theme park ride.

After staying with Red Roof for over a decade, I was disappointed to discover my reward points had been erased when I went to book another room. Turns out if you don't check in within 14 months they eliminate all your points, and this policy is tucked away in their site. The customer service person I spoke with needed 10 minutes just to locate it. That alone made me decide to stop staying there. Beyond that, the whole chain seems to have gone downhill in recent years. Management clearly doesn't care anymore. The properties are cheap and filthy.

The Pensacola NAS Corry location was a complete disaster during my two night stay at the end of October. The website advertised continental breakfast with pictures of a stocked bar, but nothing like that exists. I arrived at 6 in the morning to find out there's no breakfast and was told to go eat at Burger King down the road. The pool is boarded up by city order so you can't use it. The ice machine in the hallway sat empty after 6 PM every night. Cockroaches infested the room everywhere from the shower to the bed to the floor. They were on my pillow ready to crawl on my face. No pest control measures were in place. The floors were so dirty my white socks turned brown on the bottom. There were zero guest amenities, no toothpaste or toothbrushes provided anywhere. I had to buy hygiene items at a nearby store. During my entire two days there, I never saw anyone cleaning and never got fresh towels. This place is filthy beyond belief and should be avoided at all costs. Never experienced anything this bad before.
