I have an ImageClass MF743CDW laser printer. Canon locked the firmware so that when you need to clean the back side stains, it only lets you do it with their own cartridges that cost four times what aftermarket ones go for. If you don't use Canon cartridges, the machine won't print and they'll void the warranty. Aftermarket cartridges can't have the chips to measure ink levels. Canon shouldn't force people to buy their cartridges just to run a cleaning cycle. They need to update the firmware and remove this restriction.
