I had an issue with my order where items were missing. When I called, I was put on hold for more than an hour and nobody picked up. I'm done trying. This is unacceptable. I won't shop at Cabela's or Bass Pro again. They lost a long-time customer. Their service is the worst.
Think twice about buying firearms from Cabela's. These are minimum wage retail workers in cities, not real gun experts. There's no warranty, returns aren't accepted, and exchanges don't happen. If there's an issue you're on your own. They just refer you to the maker and move on. Their online and phone reps are only focused on closing the sale. Find a proper firearms shop with staff who actually know their products, can service them, and will back them up.
I bought a couple of Cabela camping chairs for $159 each. One of them came with the Cabela logo stitched upside down.
There's a promotion for free shipping with a specific code at checkout, but the system won't accept it. Didn't feel like calling over such a small issue.
Wasted fifteen hundred dollars. The stove vent seal was poorly made, stitching was bad, and the tent fabric felt too thin. Right out of the box it had a hole in the mesh door and was missing two tent pegs with about ten percent of the seams already separating. After just three days of light use with a small wood stove, the rubber seal around the pipe opening started cracking and crumbling away. I've had it about a month now in the Niagara area where it's been mild March weather without snow. The seal isn't holding up to even minimal heat. I can't imagine using this in real cold. The size is the only decent thing about it since I'm tall, but that's it. Not satisfied at all.
I don't get why they struggle to keep good, knowledgeable people on staff. Most items are made in China and marked up way too high anyway. The customer service is virtually nonexistent. Any competent employee they bring in leaves pretty quickly. It might be a management issue but seems like something more fundamental is wrong. Staff turnover is constant. They just say no to returns until customers give up. I've stopped shopping there entirely. Sick of poor service, low quality merchandise, and terrible attitudes.
Cabela's used to be reliable but now it's really bad. They don't honor warranties on defective items like shotguns. They just give you some random number for a foreign company and wash their hands of it. That company doesn't even respond. Recently I watched prices jump up $100 daily on products that weren't even on sale. Just regular items. After the shotgun situation I said never again, but the pricing tempted me back. That kind of markup is unacceptable.
Their website is the real problem here. When I search for items, the results are completely off base and I can't find what I'm actually looking for. The tech team at Cabela's clearly needs a major overhaul.
