The only reason I tried them was for Highlights magazine. The website showed I paid in full upfront, no monthly installments. I kept waiting for the actual magazines to show up, then got a note from Highlights saying the order never went through due to insufficient funds. I have a debit card I only use online and made sure to load enough cash for the purchase plus some buffer. The bank couldn't locate the original transaction, but they told me magazines.com charged $10.70 back in January and has been trying to process $38.72 every single day for more than twenty days. My bank said most companies only attempt a charge three times maximum. I should have known better, but at least canceling the card stopped the whole nightmare.
One star is all I can give but honestly this deserves none. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS OUTFIT. It's 100% fraud. I only used them because they had the kids magazine Highlights. I paid everything upfront per the account page, no monthly fees. Waited for the physical magazines but then got a letter from Highlights saying my order failed due to lack of funds. I use a debit card only for online stuff and loaded enough for the order plus extra. My bank and I couldn't find the original charge, but they told me magazines.com did charge $10.70 in January and has tried running $38.72 through every single day for over three weeks. Normal companies only retry three times tops. At least I could cancel the card and put an end to the mess.
The magazines show up regularly enough but good luck trying to cancel or get rid of your credit card info. Even though your account says 'non autorenewing,' they'll still charge you for another year without telling you, and you can't delete your card details from the account to stop it from happening again.
I signed up for a subscription to Monthly Prescribing Reference on Jan 11, 2023. Waited until March, nearly two months, and called to check. They said there was a shipping holdup and told me to wait until the twelve week mark. I called again on April 23 and they emailed me saying to contact the magazine company directly. When I reached out to them on 4/25, they said they didn't get the order info until March. The magazine was supposedly shipping and I'd get it by May 5. magazines.com sat on my cash for two months without even processing my order until I pushed them on it. Gave them $149 on 1/11. The discounts they advertise aren't worth the hassle.
