Tervis Reviews
What Shoppers Say About Tervis
Tervis is receiving overwhelmingly negative feedback, with shoppers reporting severe customer service failures as the primary complaint. Multiple reviewers describe slow email responses (around 5 days), inability to reach support by phone, unresponsive staff regarding order issues, and difficulty processing cancellations and returns. Several customers report long order delays, payment processing failures on the website, and returns being sent back to them instead of processed. A few long-term customers note a decline in product quality, mentioning that newer tumblers and mugs develop fogging, peeling designs, and durability issues within weeks of use, contrasting sharply with older Tervis products that performed well for years.
While a small minority of reviewers appear satisfied with their purchases, the overwhelming theme across feedback is frustration with operational and quality problems. Customers recommend exercising caution before ordering, citing the company's inability to handle basic customer service functions like timely responses, order modifications, and hassle-free returns as dealbreakers.

Sorted by: Most recentThis company has absolutely terrible customer support. Getting a refund for a returned item that never made it to them is painfully slow. They take about 5 days just to respond to emails and the whole process drags on forever. The only way to reach them is through email, which makes everything take even longer.
Placed my order on January 22nd and right away realized I needed to cancel it. Somewhere in their checkout there's supposedly a note about no changes or cancellations, but I missed it. They said delivery wouldn't happen until February 5th, which was too late since these were supposed to be gifts. I emailed them within two minutes of placing the order. By January 30th I got the rudest response basically telling me tough luck, there's a policy about cancellations. I won't order from this company again even though they're American made. If you need to return something damaged, the hassle and frustration just isn't worth it. I'd give them zero stars if the system allowed it.
Their customer service is basically nonexistent and they ignore emails about order problems. The website also fails to process payments regularly. This company used to be solid and dependable but that's definitely not the case anymore. I placed an order that went through but then they wanted me to confirm my custom design. The page to do that won't even load properly. If I don't confirm within 48 hours they cancel it, yet I can't get anyone to respond to my emails about what's happening.
I've been waiting for an order that was placed back in early December and still haven't gotten it. Customer service is impossible to reach by phone and they don't reply to emails. Anyone thinking about buying from here should know what they're getting into.
I sent back a plastic tumbler that had fogging and needed to be replaced. I'd done this before with the same issue and had no trouble. Also sent back a metal tumbler where the design started peeling off less than a month after I got it. Processed the return on their website and shipped both items back. After two weeks they show up back at my house with no note or explanation. I contacted their customer service and was told neither one was covered under their warranty. When I asked why, they said it was just normal wear and tear. That's the last time I'm buying from Tervis.
I've owned about 6 to 8 Tervis mugs and tumblers for roughly 15 years and they've been fantastic, but the new ones are really disappointing. One of my older mugs fell apart so I sent it back and they shipped a replacement that's awful. I think they switched to a different plastic material. After just a few uses with coffee, this new mug started getting all cloudy. I emailed Tervis about it and they basically said that's just how it is now. That doesn't match my experience with the old one I returned, which handled coffee no problem for years. After many emails back and forth they finally agreed I could send it back for another replacement, but by then I'd already spent about 24 dollars on return shipping for the original mug plus the flawed replacement. The new one I got started getting cloudy after using it maybe twice, so I switched to tea instead. But the tea stained it yellow after just one use. I'm done with Tervis products forever.
I absolutely love my Tervis. We've been using our 16oz tumbler daily for about 13 or 14 years now. They started looking cloudy so I sent them back for replacements. Got the new ones in less than two weeks and they're perfect. I'm very satisfied.
Something is seriously wrong at this company. I ordered on 12/3 for a Christmas gift, well ahead of their stated delivery timeline, and even paid extra for rush shipping to be safe. Two weeks went by with zero progress on my order. I had to chase them down via email repeatedly just to get any kind of status update, which never actually came. When customer service did respond, they were cold and unhelpful, or sometimes just clueless, giving me wrong information and saying it would ship any day. Christmas Eve rolls around and boom, they tell me there's a manufacturing problem and they never made it. Then I spent another whole month trying to get information about my refund. Back in 2018 I ordered from them with no issues at all, had a great experience. This time was completely opposite. I wish I'd looked them up first and found out about their bankruptcy and apparent meltdown. Whatever's going on there isn't worth the stress. Private equity bought them out and the company's basically falling apart. Find someone else who will actually fulfill orders.
I should've walked away before even placing my order since their site kept freezing up while I was trying to shop. All I wanted were some personalized cups as gifts. It took a week of dealing with this before someone finally got back to me with a workaround for the frozen template issue. I finished my order on 12/2 and was told it would arrive between 12/20 and 12/23. Then on 12/24 they sent me an email saying the order wouldn't be ready on time. Their solution was a discount on something I'd buy in the future. No thanks, and thanks for telling me a day after the delivery window closed and on Christmas Eve no less. That gift fell through. Within the same hour I replied asking when the new delivery date would be and expressing how disappointed I was about the late notice on Christmas Eve. I also asked if they could apply a discount to this order or at least waive shipping. Got an automated response saying their office would be closed 12/24 through 1/6. It's hard to believe any company would handle their customers this way. When they finally got back to me, I was told there was no
Got a Tervis tumbler that showed up in terrible condition. There's rust visible on one side, which is strange for something dated 2022. The outer plastic has bubble marks all over like it was meant to be peeled off. When they printed my Lions design, the blue came out streaky like the ink cartridge was running low, plus there are scratches on the white sections. Trying to get a replacement has been a nightmare, and I noticed on their social media that tons of other customers are dealing with the same problems. Their customer service team wasn't even available to help since they closed until early January.
