O’Neill Reviews
What Shoppers Say About O’Neill
O'Neill is rated 1.5 out of 5 by 25 shoppers, with the vast majority of reviews expressing serious dissatisfaction. Recurring complaints center on poor product durability (wetsuits wearing thin, clothing developing holes despite proper care, buttons breaking within months), inadequate warranty coverage (limited to three months), and frustrating customer service experiences. Multiple shoppers report extended refund processing times exceeding two months, slow international shipping, and unresponsive support channels across different contact methods. A small minority of shoppers praise fast domestic shipping, helpful customer service representatives, and solid product quality and fit, though these positive experiences are heavily outnumbered by negative feedback.
The overwhelmingly negative rating suggests systematic issues with product quality control and after-sales support that appear inconsistent with O'Neill's price positioning. Shoppers at this price point expect durability guarantees and responsive support, neither of which many reviewers felt they received. The few satisfied customers had positive interactions with specific staff members and quick delivery, but these bright spots do not offset the pattern of complaints about premature material failure and unresolved warranty disputes.

Sorted by: Most recentI'm done buying O'Neill wetsuits. The problem isn't just the product quality itself but also their after-sales support, which is nowhere near what you'd expect from a brand at their price point. My Hyperfreak 5/4 Fire started getting thin in the elbow area pretty quickly. I reached out to every channel I could find: the local shop, the distributor, and finally their main support center. After tons of back and forth emails, all they sent me was a tiny 18x10 cm fabric piece that's the same sample attached to the wetsuit tag. Even worse, it wasn't even the same material used in my Hyperfreak Fire, so it was useless for fixing it properly. I specifically asked if they could provide or sell me the actual matching material so a professional repair person could fix it correctly. Shockingly, nobody could help: not the distributor, not their support team, not even the repair center. They wanted €150 for a repair but couldn't even provide the right fabric if I wanted to try fixing it myself locally. So the issue is twofold.
I bought a long sleeved shirt three years ago that I barely wore and always washed correctly according to the instructions. About a year ago I started seeing tiny holes appearing, and now the whole thing looks like Swiss cheese. It's crazy how poor the quality is considering how much I paid for it. It's completely unacceptable and shameful to sell such low quality items while claiming to care about the environment and making a positive impact. These greenwashing companies make me sick. I'll never purchase from them again.
I bought a pair of men's shorts in March 2025 and paid more than I normally would because I thought the quality justified the price. Now it's July and the plastic button on the waistband snapped. I called customer service, which was a waste of time honestly, and found out they only give a three month warranty on their stuff. They basically said sorry but there's nothing they can do. Well, there's something I can do. I'm not buying from them again. This isn't your typical button so don't bother telling me to just sew on a new one.
Getting my refund for returned clothes took over 2.5 months, which was incredibly frustrating. I ran into several problems along the way. Orders in the UK take more than 10 days just to dispatch and ship. The carrier, Evri, apparently never sends return confirmation emails, and this happened twice with my returns. The system doesn't process refunds until 30 days after items ship back, but since Evri doesn't provide tracking confirmations, the company can't locate returned orders in their system. I had to contact customer service repeatedly and got different answers each time, first being told my return was in their system and then being told it wasn't. Ultimately, I had to sign a statement confirming I returned the item because they had no way to verify it themselves. This suggests some serious operational issues behind the scenes. Honestly, they should stop accepting orders if they can't handle returns efficiently and fairly. I suspect they're holding onto a lot of customer money for returns they can't verify. If you're thinking about ordering from them, especially if you're in the UK, I'd strongly recommend reconsidering.
I was hesitant to order after reading some really negative reviews here, but I decided to take a chance and I'm really glad I did. My shipment arrived in just 3 days and got to my house within a week total. The clothes look great and have a nice style to them with solid quality throughout. When I was picking a size, their guide suggested I get an S, but I went with my usual XS from other brands and it fit perfectly. Really happy with my purchase overall.
I was hunting for a particular pair of O'Neill shorts I already own and love, just in a different color. While I was searching online, a rep named Miranda started messaging me and was super helpful as I tried to find them, even though they apparently don't make that style anymore. I was surprised to see so many negative reviews online given that my interaction with Miranda was really great.
The order eventually got here but was way smaller than expected so I sent it straight back. Their refund policy is terrible with that 30 day waiting period. They don't even respond to emails. Just avoid this company if you don't want any headaches.
I've been ordering from them for years and their clothes have always been decent, but shipping times have gotten way too long lately. Reading through all the complaints really makes sense now. The company does respond to my emails fairly quickly and generally comes through, but there are clearly some issues. Even when I've paid for overnight shipping, it doesn't actually make any difference and that's frustrating. I don't bother paying the extra anymore. I usually wait for sales or use my reward points to help offset the shipping and taxes, which keeps costs reasonable. Their styles and clothing choices are good and I'll keep ordering from them, but I'm giving them 3 stars mainly because their actual shipping times are way longer than what's promised on the site, and that's been an ongoing problem.
I ordered something on 7/2, was told it was processed on 7/5, and it finally shipped today 7/10. So estimated delivery is 7/13 but I don't even need it then. I needed it for my trip on 7/12! The logistics and supply chain are absolutely horrible. Won't be ordering from them again.
They shipped me completely wrong items. It took 3 weeks to arrive in the first place. I'm still waiting for the correct order to ship out. Don't order from their website. The whole operation feels like a scam being run from somewhere completely different. Total disaster. How do you even send the wrong things? It's like they can't read what's on the order form in front of them. This is the worst fulfillment center I've ever dealt with.
