What Shoppers Say About Food52
Food52 has received overwhelmingly negative feedback from shoppers, with 1.2 out of 5 by 22 reviewers. The most consistent complaints center on poor customer service, misleading product information, and unresponsive support channels. Customers report difficulty reaching representatives, unclear shipping timelines (with delivery dates sometimes referring to shipping dates rather than actual delivery), inflexible return and warranty policies (including a 30-day warranty on items costing over $400), and billing errors that are not promptly resolved. Several shoppers noted problems recur with nearly every order.
A small minority of reviewers gave positive ratings, though specific praise is limited in the available feedback. The overwhelming pattern suggests customers are unlikely to recommend Food52, particularly for gift purchases or high-value items. Common issues include lack of transparency about delays, difficulty canceling orders once placed, and product descriptions that do not match what arrives (such as missing components or misrepresented origins).

Sorted by: Most recentReceived the wrong item, and this company makes it nearly impossible to resolve anything. There's no phone number to call. I sent two emails and got nothing but an automated response. They clearly don't care about making things right for customers. This was an expensive purchase and I'm just going to ship the wrong item back instead of dealing with trying to get what I actually ordered. Very disappointing.
Don't bother with this company. Bad products, terrible customer service, and no reliable way to get help. Would not recommend.
Submitted return requests three times with no response from anyone. The only support available is a chatbot and a FAQ page. Complete lack of customer service.
I sent two outdoor lanterns as a birthday gift for my mom and even remember reading a review where someone said a gift card wasn't included. I thought it wouldn't happen to me, but it did. No gift card came with the order. When my mom contacted the company about finding the sender, they said it was from a third party. I could have just bought directly from the manufacturer for the same price. If you're planning to send a gift from here, think twice. There's no phone number to call, and I won't be ordering from them again.
I spent around $1,000 on a beautiful set of Degrenne flatware back in February 2022. By June, it started rusting, which shouldn't happen with quality silverware. When I contacted customer service, they were completely unhelpful. I've sent 25 emails back and forth trying to get a resolution, but nothing has been done. This company is unreliable and the people there lack integrity. My previous flatware lasted 40 years without issue, but I decided to splurge on something nicer for the long haul. Instead, I got stuck with defective merchandise and a company that doesn't care.
Really frustrated with how this company treated me as a loyal customer. I've purchased from them many times, but when I asked if they could apply a discount code to an order I forgot to submit the night before, they flat out refused. The sale ended at midnight on Mother's Day, and my order was going to be over $700, but they wouldn't budge on making even a one-time exception. The rep I spoke with didn't seem willing to escalate my request to anyone with decision-making authority. This kind of inflexibility is exactly how you lose repeat customers. Very disappointing experience.
Worst shopping experience ever. Returning items here is a nightmare if you want a refund. There's no phone number to call, just unhelpful customer service reps who give you the runaround. I'm still waiting for my money back, and they forced me to use PayPal for the refund instead of putting it back on my original payment method. Even after I agreed and gave them my PayPal information, the money never showed up.
Purchased something through PayPal and waited over a week for shipping info. When I checked my PayPal account, I discovered that what should have been a one-time charge had been set up as a recurring subscription. Eventually the item arrived, and I managed to cancel the subscription through PayPal settings, so at least that got resolved. Still, this is sketchy and I won't be buying from them again. If you've used PayPal with them before, check your account to make sure you don't have an active subscription they can keep charging.
